TRON Seven

Seven Phono Seven Mono PhonoSeven Line Seven Pre NEWSeven DACMC Transformer

I am very proud to introduce the Seven series. The Seven series has been designed to provide unheard of performance for its price. This has been achieved by very careful design and the use of very high quality parts in all critical locations and this really matters when it comes to performance. No unnecessary facilities, connections, switch contacts, relays or other circuitry have been included so its all about achieving maximum performance to achieve the ultimate listening experience.

Seven Phono Stage

The Seven Phono is a new design with many unique features. Like all TRON products it relies on the vacuum tube for amplification. I am not going to extol the virtues of this method of amplification over solid state but I have found it to produce the most natural presentation of recorded music. I guess that's why all the top musicians still use valve amps for recording and why recording engineers still use valve/tube microphones. I have kept the stages in the Seven to an absolute minimum and have selected valves/tubes that are easily obtainable, giving the potential owner the option of using his or her favourite brand. The Seven can come set up either for moving magnet or moving coil cartridges.
Moving Magnet gain is 49dB

The coil options are as follows:
1) +20dB for cartridges with an output of 0.3mV to 0.9mV.
2) +26dB for cartridges with an output of 0.2mV to 0.3mV.
3) +30dB for cartridges with an output of 0.1mV to 0.2mV.
4) +40dB for cartridges with an output of less than 0.1mV.

Custom gain options can also be specified and any of these options can be specified during the ordering process.

The output stage has a very low impedance high current output, which enables it to be used with any pre-amp, whether valve or transistor, or even a transformer type volume control (TVC).

Ultimately the proof is in the listening and I strongly recommend you take the opportunity to listen to one at your nearest TRON Dealer. Please check our Orders & Enquiries page to see a list of our distributors.

Click here to read the 6moons review. Please note the Seven Phono has been significantly upgraded since this review.

A Seven Reference phono stage is also available to order. In the Reference version every single component is replaced with carefully selected top grade audiophile components. This represents a major upgrade with a corresponding increase in detail, resolution and tonal accuracy.

Information Note: due to many posts on the Audio forums around the world regarding the type of valve/tube that can be used in the Seven Phono, here is what you can use should anyone feel the need to change the tubes:
V1 & V2 - 12AX7 (low noise)
V3 - 12AU7WA, 5814WA - must be the WA version.
NOS types are fitted in V3 from new. V1 & V2 are selected for low noise.

Seven Mono Phono Stage

The Seven Mono phono stage has been made available to enable customers to enjoy their collection of mono recordings with the maximum fidelity that only a specifically designed mono phono stage with selectable EQ can offer.

Why a mono phono stage?
Pre-1957 record companies used different recording equalisations prior to the introduction of the RIAA standard. We have developed this phono stage to allow more faithful reproduction of these early recordings. The Seven is available with three switchable equalisations which can be user specified.

Modern mono cartridges often do not work well with stereo phono stages, causing noise etc. This is because stereo phono stages are expecting to see a stereo signal rather than a mono one.

Different levels of gain are available to match the output of your mono cartridge.
Moving Magnet gain is 49dB
The coil option has 3 levels of gain:
1) +20dB for cartridges with an output of 0.3mV to 0.7mV.
2) +26dB for cartridges with an output of 0.1mV to 0.3mV.
3) Up to +40dB depending on customers cartridge.
Any of these options can be specified during the ordering process.

Seven Line Stage

The Seven Line is a new design with many unique features. Like all TRON products it relies on the vacuum tube for amplification. I have kept the stages in the Seven to an absolute minimum and have selected valves/tubes that are easily obtainable, giving the potential owner the option of using his or her favourite brand. The Seven line stage comes with 5 RCA inputs, mono/stereo switch, mute switch, earth lift switch, silver RCA sockets, non ferrous case and it is all made in the UK. It also has fitted a very high quality Elma selector switch and a close tolerance Noble volume control. The current build of the Seven Line Stage now also features a tape loop.

The output stage is a very low impedance high current design, which enables it to be used with any power amplifier, whether transistor or valve.

The Seven line stage provides up to +15dB of gain.

Ultimately the proof is in the listening and I strongly recommend you take the opportunity to listen to one at your nearest TRON dealer. Please check our Orders & Enquiries page to see a list of our distributors.

Seven Preamplifier

The Seven Preamplifier is a new product which builds upon the success of the Seven Line and the Seven Phono, offering the convenience and cost-savings of a one-box solution. The Seven Pre comes with 4 line level RCA inputs, a phono input for vinyl replay and a tape loop, as well as the mono/stereo switch, mute switch, earth lift switch, silver RCA sockets and non ferrous case like the Seven Phono and Line. Of course this too is made in the UK. It also has fitted a very high quality Elma selector switch and a close tolerance Noble volume control.

The phono stage featured in the Seven Pre is a brand new design and can be ordered as either MM (48dB gain), MC (68dB) or MC high gain for use with low output cartridges, with 74dB gain. This is is configurable at time of ordering.

The Seven Pre's line stage, being identical to the stand-alone Seven Line, provides up to +15dB of gain. The output stage is a very low impedance high current design, which enables it to be used with any power amplifier, whether transistor or valve. Additional partitioning has been employed internally to help reduce the disruptive effect of magnetic, mechanical and electrical fields for the critical aspects of the circuit.

We are really pleased with the sound of the new integrated Seven Pre and would heartily recommend you take the opportunity to listen to one at your nearest TRON dealer. Please check our Orders & Enquiries page to see a list of our distributors.

Seven DAC

The Seven DAC is a new design with many unique features. Like all TRON products it relies on the vacuum tube for amplification.

The output stage is a very low impedance high current design, which enables it to be used with any pre-amp, whether transistor, valve or even a transformer type volume control (TVC).

If you visited us at the NAS 2009 show at Whittlebury Hall you may well have heard the Seven DAC already.

MC Transformer

The Seven series MC transformer is available in three different levels of gain: 20dB, 26dB and 40dB. It also acts as an expander, providing two switchable inputs into one output.

The construction of the transformer case is made of non-magnetic materials so the case will not influence the two magnetic circuits inside. Also as in all TRON amplifiers silver RCA sockets are used

Option 1 - +20dB (1:10)
Option 2 - +26dB (1:20)
Option 3 - +40dB (1:50)

Silver wired versions of the above are available on request. Special custom wound versions can also be ordered specifically to match certain cartridges.
